I don't understand why lemon in water has an alkalizing effect, when lemon contains citric acid. The water certainly tastes more acidic. I'm fairly sure water has a more-or-less neutral pH, so surely squeezing lemon into it acidifies it, if anything. Can anyone explain this?

[...] Unlike refined sugar, honey contains vitamins and minerals. Refined sugars are void of vitamins and minerals. The body must utilize its store of valuable nutrients to digest refined sugar. This process depletes the supply of minerals essential to dissolve cholesterol and fats. Honey helps metabolize cholesterol and fatty acid preventing obesity. Make a diet drink by adding honey and lemon to a glass of water. [...]

Great article - It's true, adding lemon to your water has a number of health benefits, but the most important benefit is that it makes water a whole lot more appealing to people which means they usually drink a bunch more water!

As an alternative to lemons, or when you're on the go, our product, True Lemon is a great substitute. It's 100% all natural crystallized lemon.

If you're interested in sampling it, please shoot me an email at taylor[at]true-lemon.com. And you can check out our website at http://bit.ly/lC9tM
