The Commerce Of Weight Loss

Millions of dollars are spent every year by people who are desperately trying to lose weight. Whether it is in a health food store or online, people from eighteen to eighty are buying products they hope will make them thinner. Everybody’s looking for the miracle that will make fat disappear.

Advertisements for weight loss products are everywhere you go. No matter what time of day or night you turn on the television, there are infomercials related to losing those extra pounds.

Empty promises are made to the viewers about how lean they can become if they invest money in this exercise machine or that special juice maker. Women’s magazines show before- and- after photos of women who have used diet pills, diet books, or hypnotic weight loss tapes.

Through tear-stained eyes, women all over the country beg their doctors for help losing weight. Desperate to feel better physically, women are trying one diet after another with little success. They may lose some with all their efforts, but statistics show that very few actually keep that weight off for long. So what do we do?

Quit saying “diet”. Set up a personal food plan that suits you. Include less fat, carbohydrates, sugar, and salt. How many times have you said, “But I don’t eat that much”? Check yourself. Measure your food in no larger than 1 cup portions. Use smaller plates.

After talking to your doctor, start slow. Keep in mind that this is a life change, not a quick fix. Joining a friend at the spa is a great way to stay motivated to exercise and tone as the weight falls off. Starting this new way of life with a friend or joining a support group would be very encouraging as well.

Remember, this change is to improve your health. Weight loss is a side effect! Let your body fit your frame. Enjoy uncovering the real you!

I agree to what you’ve said that “this is a life change, not a quick fix”. I read one book few days ago on a fitness trainer who sells and teach people how to lose weight. He said that most people are trying to find a quick fix. He said clearly that it is a total lifestyle changing if anyone want to lose weight effectively and permanently.

For my own practice, I encourage my clients to detox their body through colon cleansing first. Once their body is clean and able to absorb nutrition normally, I realize that they lose lots of weight just within a week. Thanks for posting this. It’s useful and honest to others!
